About Robotics and artificial intelligence —there’s plenty to read about them in technical articles, studies, or product brochures. But you can only truly understand the potential of these technologies when you experience them firsthand: when an autonomous robot is actually making its rounds, when sensors react in real time, and when you can talk to the people who use these systems every day.
The Innovation Days 2026, which took place in Leipzig from June 9 to 11 as they do every year, offered exactly this kind of experience. Under the theme “Connected Robotics—Identifying New Opportunities,” visitors from the security sector, industry, logistics, and KRITIS came together to learn about current technologies in real-world applications.
Solving Challenges Together
The security industry faces a major challenge: a shortage of skilled workers. At the same time, the requirements placed on operators of critical infrastructure (KRITIS), industrial companies, and security service providers are increasing. Issues such as resilience, the protection of critical processes, and the implementation of new regulatory requirements—particularly in light of the NIS2 Directive—are increasingly coming into focus.
Traditional security concepts are no longer sufficient to ensure a resilient security organization. What is needed are intelligent, connected solutions that complement existing security processes, identify risks early on, and provide targeted support to employees.
This is exactly where the Innovation Days 2026 come in: They demonstrated how robotics, AI, and smart connectivity can support existing teams, streamline processes, and close security gaps—not as a replacement for humans, but as a meaningful complement.
Experience Security Solutions Firsthand
Innovation Days 2026 offered visitors the opportunity not only to learn about modern security and inspection robotics, but also to experience it firsthand. Throughout the event grounds, experts from Security Robotics and its technology partners presented their solutions at thematically organized exhibition booths. Whether autonomous ground robots, drone systems, or intelligent software solutions —all technologies could be experienced in live operation and discussed with the respective specialists based on specific application scenarios.
Alongside the technical presentations, the exhibition areas provided a space for one-on-one discussions with users, system integrators, and safety managers. The focus was not on individual products, but rather on how robotics, artificial intelligence, and networked systems can be meaningfully integrated into existing work and safety processes —from automated security monitoring and inspection tasks to predictive maintenance applications. The combination of live demonstrations, expert knowledge, and direct interaction once again made the Innovation Days a practical platform for knowledge transfer and networking. The following overview shows which technologies visitors were able to explore in detail during the Innovation Days.
Live on Site: The Systems on Display
The live demonstrations focused on four autonomous systems that cover various applications of modern security robotics, ranging from mobile ground patrols to aerial surveillance.

Equipped with 360° camera technology, thermal imaging, AI-powered object recognition, and high off-road capability, it conducts autonomous patrols and delivers camera and sensor data in real time—even under challenging weather conditions.
BEEHIVE by Sunflower Labs
An autonomous drone system for aerial surveillance of secure areas. With real-time video streaming, intelligent video analysis, and an optional thermal camera, it conducts automatic aerial patrols, verifies alarms from the air, and provides high-resolution image data—day and night.
The robotic systems on display highlighted the diversity of modern security robotics, ranging from autonomous ground patrols to aerial surveillance. However, they only reach their full potential through the intelligent networking of all systems. It was precisely for this purpose that Security Robotics also presented its own software and networking solutions at the Innovation Days.
Smart Connectivity as the Key
ACUDA (Autonomous Center of Unified Digital Actors)
Integrates robotic systems, cameras, sensors, and other security components into a central platform. Information is consolidated and analyzed in real time and made available for alerts and operational decisions. This creates a networked security concept that intelligently complements existing infrastructure.
OMNILIZER
An AI-powered analytics module for the intelligent analysis of sensor and image data. The Omnilizer detects anomalies in real time, processes information directly on the device (edge analysis), and enables fast and precise decision-making. By consolidating various data sources, it makes robot systems and camera solutions smarter, more powerful, and more flexible in operation.
NUCRON
Nucron acts as an IoT injector and seamlessly integrates traditional devices such as cameras, barriers, and access control systems into modern security architectures. It enables the secure networking of existing customer ecosystems with robotics and AI solutions without breaking down network silos. This ensures that existing infrastructure is expanded to meet future needs.
Together, the robot systems and digital solutions on display demonstrated that modern security concepts can only be realized through the interplay of robotics, intelligent data processing, and networked infrastructure. It was precisely this holistic approach that served as a common thread throughout Innovation Days 2026.
Specialized presentations with practical relevance
In addition to the live demonstrations, Innovation Days 2026 featured a diverse program of presentations. Experts from government, the security sector, and industry shed light on current challenges, technological developments, and real-world experiences. The focus was on resilient security concepts, the use of artificial intelligence, and the integration of autonomous systems into existing security processes.
Resilient Communication
Keynote speaker Timon Dischmann from the Digital City Unit of the City of Leipzig’s Department of Economy, Labor, and Digital Affairs. In his presentation titled “Emergency Box—Self-Sufficient Communication and Information Systems for Crisis Situations,” he introduced an OpenWrt-based system that provides a local Wi-Fi network with an information portal in the event of failures in the public communications infrastructure.
The presentation highlighted how important robust communication structures are for the deployment of networked autonomous security systems, particularly in crisis situations.
