The Security Robotics Innovation Days 2024 (ID24), which took place in Leipzig from 13 to 15 August, focused on the latest developments in security robotics. Under the motto ‘Adaptability – the power of evolution’ or ‘Autonomous mobile security robots as an intelligent platform for diverse requirements’, the event offered a unique opportunity to gain an in-depth insight into the future of the security industry.
At a time when the security industry is facing major challenges, including the recruitment of skilled labour and the integration of cutting-edge technology, the exhibition attracted around 70 visitors from a wide range of industries. These included security companies as well as end customers from the logistics and warehousing, automotive and textile industries, public transport and airports, as well as museums, energy suppliers, data centres, car parks, insurance companies, judicial authorities, police and security consultancies.
ID24 not only offered these experts the opportunity to experience innovative technologies at first hand, but also to test their potential applications and limitations in practice. Through interactive demonstrations and direct application, participants were able to experience first-hand how modern security robotics works today and what the future could bring.
Focus on technological innnovations
The ID24 trade fair provided a comprehensive platform to showcase the diverse possibilities and advances of autonomous mobile robotics for safety. The focus was on demonstrating how these innovative systems can help to effectively overcome current and future safety challenges. Flexibly equipped with various sensors and modules, our robots can be customised to specific application scenarios, enabling them to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and with the highest precision.
Challenges in the security industry
The security industry is currently facing major challenges. According to the European Confederation of the Private Security Industry (CoESS), 92 per cent of security companies have difficulties finding qualified personnel and 68 per cent have difficulties integrating and applying new technologies. The lack of qualified personnel is leading to intense competition on the labour market, with compromises often having to be made on the quality of personnel. In addition, rising minimum wages are making the economic viability of traditional security solutions more difficult, forcing the search for more efficient and cost-effective alternatives.
Application advantages of autonomous safety robots
Our presentations at ID24 showed how the use of autonomous security robots not only improves the quality and reliability of security services, but also enables significant cost savings. Detailed cost comparisons showed that savings can range from 17% to 45% or more. These savings are achieved by reducing labour costs, minimising human error and increasing efficiency through uninterrupted, fatigue-free working around the clock.
Furthermore, Statista predicts that the robotics market will have a turnover of approximately €3.82 billion in 2024, and a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.24% is expected until 2028, which corresponds to a market size of €5.85 billion. Other analysts (Data Bridge Market Research predicts € 20.88 billion per year) believe that AI-assisted robotics will grow even faster. These figures emphasise the dynamic development and enormous potential of the robotics industry, particularly in the security sector.
Interactive Live-Demonstrations
ID24 focussed on interactive live demonstrations that allowed visitors to get to know the systems on display up close and test them in practice. Hands-on exercises and scenarios allowed attendees to experience first-hand the performance, adaptability and limitations of the technologies. This hands-on approach provided a deep understanding of the functionality and benefits of the systems and clarified open questions on the spot.
Visitors were invited to take on different roles, including that of a potential intruder, to evaluate the effectiveness and responsiveness of the systems from different perspectives. This immersive experience provided a comprehensive understanding of the technical possibilities and promoted confidence in the effectiveness of autonomous security solutions.

Conclusions
The Security Robotics Innovation Days 2024 (ID24) were a complete success and provided valuable insights into current and future developments in the field of security robotics. Over three intensive days, participants were not only able to experience the latest technologies live, but also learn about their practical benefits and their great importance for the security industry. The systems and solutions presented clearly demonstrated how autonomous mobile robots can improve the quality and efficiency of security services while also enabling significant cost savings.
The central role of networking and integration offered by our ACUDA control platform is particularly worth emphasising. This platform ensures that all safety actuators work together to provide a faster, more accurate and more reliable response to safety incidents. The positive feedback from participants confirms that ID24 was not only a showcase for innovation, but also a platform that enabled the exchange of ideas and the forging of new partnerships.
‘I found it very interesting. Unfortunately, I can’t use it in the company, we have various buildings scattered around the city, some of which are not fenced in. But it was great to see the robots in action. It was very impressive…thank you very much for the invitation.’
‘First of all, thank you for inviting me to your Innovation Days. I found it to be a pleasant and entertaining yet very informative event, which inspired me to come up with some ideas on how we can utilise the Security Robotics portfolio at our site.
As a modern company in the semiconductor industry, it is of course our desire to utilise future-oriented technology in the field of security. We are striving for future cooperation and would like to invite your team to Dresden as a next step in order to jointly develop suitable concepts for the use of security robots.’
‘In principle, the market for automated robots will grow strongly over the next few years, and robots will be indispensable in the future for certain areas of application such as perimeter protection. Security Robotics’ current portfolio is convincing, with the exception of the receiving robot, which is still too immature.’
‘I am currently completing an apprenticeship in the field of automation and robotics. In this context, I will be completing an internship to simulate an automated process.
I have the impression that the automation sector has great potential for the future. It can be used to overcome some of the major challenges of our time: Skills shortages, dealing with dangerous or repetitive tasks, simple individualisation of products.
I don’t yet have any experience in the field of security with robots. However, the potential for savings, safety and efficiency is obvious to me.’
‘The event was very informative and informative. In particular, we travelled to Leipzig with the intention of getting to know each other better and concluding a partnership with Security Robotics in the near future.
In this respect, what we saw confirmed our existing impression that a great deal of commitment and technical expertise is being invested in researching and developing new mobile technologies to improve the quality and efficiency of surveillance. I myself was able to gain some new insights into the robots and have thus gained a better understanding of the technologies used.
It’s great to see these robots and the drone in action and it makes me want to use this technology in customer projects myself.’
For all those who did not have time to visit the ID24 trade fair, there is another opportunity to experience our technologies and innovations live.
