Speech recognition is the ability of a system to understand and interpret spoken language and to respond to it in an appropriate way, both verbally and in writing. Speech recognition is used in communication robots, for example, and is also used in voice-controlled systems in the security sector, which then utilise voice patterns for authentication, among other things.
